This light renovation aims at retaining the existing floor plan and enhancing the original feature of the house.
The new modern kitchen perfectly fits the original hand-painted wall tiles as well as the slate counter top and shelves.
Key sustainability
features
energy efficiency
A new heat pump replaces the old gas heating system, providing air conditioning during summertime.
A highly performant building envelope, including a thermal coat and triple-glazed windows, guarantees limited energy consumption.
circular economy
The avoided wall or wall tiles demolition made it a nearly-zero-waste renovation. Existing furniture to be replaced was donated to other people and reused. The flexibility of use allows preventing from functional obsolescence.
New movable curtains hide a stacking bed and two lateral closets. Their light-blue stripes match original mosaic tiles of the wall niche and some of the original pieces of furniture of the house.
The sink is replaced with a new one with black faucets, matching the original shelves and the recessed soap niches.
New and old co-exist in every detail of the renovation.
Both the living space at the ground floor and the bedroom space at the first floor allow for a flexible use of space.
Both spaces are provided with sofa beds, sinks and a direct connection with the beautiful garden facing the sea.
